Cycling/Mountain Biking in Bwindi
Though Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is popular for mountain gorilla trekking, the park also offers opportunities to try out biking. within the park, there is a well-maintained trail from the park headquarters at Buhoma to the Ivi River. A trail along this 13km trail you may see several wildlife that include bushbucks, black-and-white colobus and red-tailed monkeys. The ride takes about six-seven hour round trip departing in the morning, and is organized by Buhoma Community Rest Camp under the “Ride for a Woman“ community development initiative.
Mountain Biking in Mt. Elgon
Mount Elgon National Park is another place to go biking in Uganda. Within the park, there is a well developed mountain biking trail that runs from Sipi Trading centre to Chema Hill in Kapchorwa town. The rides takes 1.5 hours and provides views of various waterfalls and the Karamoja plains. Bikes can be hired from Sipi River Lodge.
